YOUR OWN LOCAL INFORMATION CENTRE AT THE VILLAGE LIBRARY

IN ST JAMES ST. OPPOSITE THE CO-OP CAR PARK

The Centre, which is based in the library is reaching out and more volunteers are required.

The Centre  provides information about all aspects of life in South Petherton. It  advises existing residents, individuals and families coming to live here and  visitors.

The advice ranges from personal matters to timetables; from gardens to walks; from shopping to entertainment; from education to hobbies. Indeed everything and anything.

If we do not know the answer we will tell someone where to find it or find it ourselves while they wait.

We are about to create a mobile centre which will visit  the village Folk Fest, The Commemoration of the Great War, The Field of Dreams and other similar activities in the area.

To reach our ambitions we urgently need more volunteers. Please help by visiting the library between 10.00 am and Mid-day on Tuesdays ,Thursdays, Fridays  or Saturdays and talk to an existing volunteer; alternatively ring 01460249613.

One to One in South Petherton

The Local Information Service at South Petherton is promoting  regular 1-2-1 sessions. At these informal meetings held in the local Library you can ......

     Obtain answers to your questions

Make complaints and be guaranteed an answer

     Receive advice and guidance

     Promote your ideas

     Obtain information

Present at each session will be either a professional  expert; a County, District or Parish Councillor; a well known personality or a senior manager of an organisation. The LIC manage timings for individual consultations and a whole session  lasts from 10.30 until mid-day.

This is a great opportunity for individuals, families or small interest groups  to obtain a serious and authoritative response to matters of interest or concern. So please avail yourself to the opportunity.  Also tell the LIC of someone you would like to talk to. The LIC will do it’s best to get that person.

Normally sessions are on the last Saturday of each month, apart from August or December, but dates do vary so please watch the South Petherton Parish Council Notice Boards, the Council website and Facebook for details.

JUST ASK US ABOUT ANYTHING

Between 10.00am and midday on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Centre will help you solve your issues, whether resident or visitor, tourist or local. We are here to guide you to a satisfactory outcome through good, relevant information and guidance.

We work with all statutory agencies in the area and are sponsored by the Parish Council and District Council.  There is a network of centres in South Somerset led by the District Council so we get the best ideas, BUT we also need YOUR ideas.

On the last Saturday of most months the Centre promotes one to one sessions engaging Parish, District and County Councillors and experts in their field to give you specialist advice and answer your questions.

So, from a bus timetable to a problem at home; a map of our footpaths to a musical evening; a planning application to a local club, we can help give you a solution.
