Twinned with Javené, (Brittany) France

WELCOME and Bienvenue to my website.

This site is designed to serve and promote the communities comprising South Petherton, Over Stratton, Compton Durville and all the small hamlets amongst and between these larger groups of houses. I run it as a private individual now - it has nothing to do with the Parish Council who now run their own site. Your comments about the current content of this site are welcome. If there’s anything you think should be included; if you have any events or plans that you or your group want to publicise or even a photograph - anything of local interest - just email it to me.   (nb new email address)

Thanks for your support    Tony Charman (Webmaster)

If you go down to Burnworthy House on Friday 17th June you could be in for a big surprise !!!

Open invitation to the residents of South Petherton to come along and watch something special happening.

We are having a Sensory Garden/Allotment built for our residents to be opened on Friday June 17th

which coincides with National Care Homes Open Day.

A very special team of soldiers have volunteered to come along on the day and do all the heavy manual work for us.  We are hoping to get donations of materials and plants from  local businesses, the community and the residents families to provide a practical, therapeutically beneficial and eye-catching addition to the already stunning grounds of Burnworthy House.

We will be building a seating area, raised beds with wheel chair access, scented flower beds, wind chime trees, water features, everything aimed at encouraging the use of all of our senses. Local school children and other groups and societies from the community will be encouraged to play an active part in this on going project.

Our residents will gain immense pleasure from a sensory garden and allotment as not only will they enjoy watching their plants grow, be able to sit in the tranquil seating area and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds, but, they will be able to interact with the local community as they come in to work on the allotment or wander around the garden.

Please support our project and help to make it a real community effort.

We need more materials, garden furniture, plants, volunteers.......
