WELCOME and Bienvenue to my website.
This site is designed to serve and promote the communities comprising South Petherton, Over Stratton, Compton Durville and all the small hamlets amongst and between these larger groups of houses. I run it as a private individual now - it has nothing to do with the Parish Council who now run their own site. Your comments about the current content of this site are welcome. If there’s anything you think should be included; if you have any events or plans that you or your group want to publicise or even a photograph - anything of local interest - just email it to me. Thanks for your support Tony Charman (Webmaster)
Tonight the David Hall hands over its professional stage and outstanding acoustics to budding artists of all genres.
It's a great evening full of extraordinary skill, talent and variety - and it doesn't cost the earth - just £2 audience and £1 performers to cover the cost of heating and lighting the hall.
When Tyneside group Lindisfarne exploded onto the UK music scene in 1970, they became the standard-bearers for Acoustic-based Rock groups. Former members Billy Mitchell and Ray Laidlaw tell The Lindisfarne Story from the very beginning, featuring Acoustic versions of classic songs and 'behind the scenes' stories, all illustrated with archive video and stills.
The last Wednesday of every month 10am - 12 noon
Pop in for a coffee and a chat; look for a book or rummage in the bric a brac stall.
Martin is a phenomenally talented guitarist, singer and songwriter. He has become especially synonymous with the British and American slide guitar scene. He also has great recognition on both sides of “the pond” as a respected voice in the evolution of Popular Blues and Folk-orientated music.
Martin will be supported by Kezia, a singer/songwriter whose sound drifts between folk and blues with a tinge of country.
Featuring some of the best artistes in the Country this is certainly the most varied and exciting programmme that we’ve ever had.
Come and see artists that you’d normally only see in major venues and Big City theatres. It is a huge testament to the reputation of our very own ‘Small Hall’ that they not only agree to come and perform but that they return because they enjoy the atmosphere.
