Twinned with Javené, (Brittany) France

WELCOME and Bienvenue to my website.

This site is designed to serve and promote the communities comprising South Petherton, Over Stratton, Compton Durville and all the small hamlets amongst and between these larger groups of houses. I run it as a private individual now - it has nothing to do with the Parish Council who now run their own site. Your comments about the current content of this site are welcome. If there’s anything you think should be included; if you have any events or plans that you or your group want to publicise or even a photograph - anything of local interest - just email it to me.   (nb new email address)

Thanks for your support    Tony Charman (Webmaster)

Bin reminder for May’s bank holidays

Two bank holidays in May mean changes to collections for every home in Somerset.

The Spring Bank Holiday on Monday 29 May sees one-day-later pick-ups during that week, including collections for Friday 2 June taking place on Saturday 3 June.  Recycling sites remain on their usual schedules throughout both weeks, including all 16 opening at 8am on Saturdays, Sundays and both Bank Holiday Mondays.

For more information on collections, see

This website - Change of ownership

In the next month or so I will be handing over the running of this website to Tony Bishton (who many of you will know is the owner of Provender).  Please bear with us during the handover period. My thanks to everyone who has contributed and supported the site over the past  10 years - long may it continue to represent and promote the village and its many facilities and activities.
